In the air

I admit to not reading other mathy blogs on any sort of schedule, so when I followed the not even wrong link, the previous entry caught my eye.

Just remember I already called it.

I have no doubt about this. I was talking to Karthik the other day, and I used the fact that you predicted Tao would win as definitive proof.

Does anyone bet on the likely winners of Fields Medals? I read in a history of the Cambridge Mathematics Tripos exam that there was massive public betting on the likely top-marked students in the exam in England during the 19th century. There were even stories of malfeasance, with staff at Cambridge colleges allegedly bribed by punters to make the leading candidates sick by contaminating their college meals in the week of the final exam.

Well, I am unaware of any specific marketplace for it, but if you wanted to put down money AGAINST my prediction, I am willing. :)
