Wednesday, February 14th, 2007We’ve had a lot of discussion of open access to scientific journals here, so I wanted to point out the Public Library of Science, a collection of open-access but peer-reviewed journals in biology and medicine that began in 2003. It’s an interesting test case, because there’s a lot more money at stake in medicine than in mathematics or physics. PLoS finances their publications through author fees in the 2000 dollar range.
