In fact, the WWN did have excellent science reporting. Their articles on nutrition, and other "straight science" articles like one about a parrot who can count objects and understand various other complex grammatical constructs (cf Irene Pepperberg) were always accurate and fact checked. They did much better than rags like the New York TImes which, as many will attest, always get important stuff wrong in most science articles.
